'Up the Revolution!': Six reasons to be a feminist...

4.39.47pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 19th Apr 2007

Jessica Valenti, the author of 'Full Frontal Feminism: A Young Woman's Guide to Why Feminism Matters' tells why she believes that all women should be feminists.

Writing for the Guardian's G2 magazine, Valenti argues that feminism is necessary for women to share full, happy and successful lives. She argues that society as it exists, consistently tells women that they are just not good enough, and that the well-known and over-used phrase "I'm not a feminist, but...." illustrates the reality that women know they deserve better.

Valenti gives six reasons why all women should be feminists:

1. Body Image

2. Pay Gap

3. Violence/sexual assault

4. Reproductive rights

5. Political representation

6. Sex
