WLD asked to contribute to manifesto

5.04.28pm GMT Wed 14th Feb 2007

WLD members have been urged by Steve Webb MP, Chair of the Liberal Democrat Manifesto Writing Group to help contribute to the Party's next election manifesto.

The Federal Policy Committee have launched a new manifesto website aimed at encouraging members to debate both detailed policy proposals, as well as over-arching themes and issues.

The website is open to all Liberal Democrat members, however it is especially important for women to get involved in helping to shape party policy. Commenting Steve Webb said,

"In what is almost always a male-dominated political debate, the active participation of members of WLD in our manifesto consultation process will be essential to ensuring that we have a manifesto that speaks in a language that the wider public both understand and identify with."

Liz Evans, WLD chair has echoed this plea by saying,

"It is imperative that women have significant input into the manifesto consultation process. Women are 52% of the population - the majority - and as such we have a duty to make sure we get involved in and influence the messages that the party will be sending out at the next election."

WLD members can contribute to the debate by logging onto www.manifesto.libdems.org.uk
